The User Group Academy was founded in 1995 by Dan Sailers and Fred Showker in
preparation for the 1996 NAUGSAW event which was held in Dallas Texas.
It was the goal and mission of this organization to:
- Identify and recognize outstanding User Groups
- Host an annual awards program for User Group newsletters and web sites
- Establish a Grants program to help User Groups grow their local missions
- Form the beginnings of a national organization of User Groups
Since that time The User Group Academy has held its Awards each year, along with
User Group meetings on both coasts of the US. These events have been host to User
Group officers from around the globe from Japan to Germany and all points between.
In 1999 The User Group Academy awarded more than $25,000.00 in grant money to
User Groups who applied with grant proposals to partner in projects in their communities.
In 2000 The User Group Academy awarded another $15,000.00 in grant money to User
Groups who applied with grant proposals to partner in projects in their communities.
We invite all User Groups and Computer Industry firms to join and participate in
this worthwhile organization -- benefiting communities everywhere.
User Groups who join the Association of Apple Computer
Users & Groups automatically become members of The User Group Academy.
