We'll never miss another home run. . .
Mandy, and Jennifer, managers of the "Dulaney Lions" girls softball team
say:
"We'll never miss another home run... "
__ Two happy 9th graders no longer have to worry about
recording and administrating the 9th grade and junior varsity sports statistics on
paper!
__ Usually stats have to be written by hand, and transcribed
into the computer later -- now they have instant stats right there on the field,
using one of the new iBook notebook computers.
__ Edith Lynch, Mathematics, and softball coach assures...
"Why of course, they do it all themselves!" |
"... publishing on the go!"
The award-winning Dulaney newspaper "The Griffin" also gets a boost from
the iBook loaner program. Chris Chacko, managing editor for The Griffin, (at right)
uses Excel, PowerPoint, Word, in management and Frank Costantino, Editor, designs
and edits on-site news using PageMaker. Students produce the entire newsletter, from
scratch each month including layout, photography and pre-press production. The iBooks
are perfect for over-weekend assignments, and news actualities. Since they're ethernet-ready,
it's an easy snap to plug into the school's extensive network. |

"PowerPoint
_on the
fly..."
With a beaming smile, Juan Domenech, (at right, center, at the keyboard) Advanced
Placement Psych, Government and Honors Anthropology teacher took a few minutes --
while we watched -- and produced a PowerPoint presentation, from scratch! It was
titled: "Thank You, User Group Academy"!
__ Juan confided: "I checked out an iBook over
the weekend and learned PowerPoint! Now I can help others learn the program and then
transport presentations into other class rooms and even to off-site presentations."
__ Everyone was duly impressed.
