Multimedia Mania Janice Wright This is an update on our $5000 grant, which was presented to us at the Apple User Group Awards Breakfast at MacWorld San Francisco in January. It is part of the User Group Academy Grant Program, which encourages partnerships between User Groups and local K-12 public schools. Our project is entitled Multimedia Mania: Promoting Project-based Learning. Special HMUG meeting was held May 13 to celebrate Phase 1 of Multimedia Mania. Multimedia projects created by Boaz Elementary students were presented to a crowd of enthusiastic HMUG members and Boaz Parents! __ The experience of receiving this award on behalf of HMUG and Boaz Elementary School was thrilling, indeed! But what’s even more exciting is witnessing the effects of this award. Before I decided to write this grant proposal, I wanted to be sure that at least a few teachers and HMUG members would participate. When I first brought it up at HMUG, I had a list of about 10 or 12 names of people who would be willing to help in some way. I then presented the idea to the other 4 teachers on the Technology Committee at Boaz Elementary. They all agreed to participate if, by some chance, we got the UGA Grant. So I knew that I would have the support of HMUG and at least 5 participating teachers (including myself). Launching the project. . .
