Launching Phase 1
On Monday, February 21, I announced to the faculty of Boaz Elementary School the
we had received the award. I explained that, through this project, they would have
the opportunity to learn how to better use technology by integrating it into the
curriculum through multimedia projects. I explained that this would be "phase
1" of the project and that, if they didn’t feel that they could tackle this
right now, they would have a chance to join us for "phase 2" this fall.
They were then given the opportunity to sign up if they were interested. Well…I knew
going in that I would have at least 4 other teachers involved in the MM Mania Project.
How excited and encouraged I was to see, not 4, but 13 names on the list!! |

__ We began the project with an afternoon orientation
workshop. The Boaz Elementary PTO provided volunteers to cover classes so that this
could be done during the school day. I had prepared materials (notebooks, software,
etc.) for 14 people, myself included. On the morning of the workshop, another first
grade teacher came by my classroom and wanted to know if it was too late to sign
up. Of course, I couldn’t say no! The Multimedia Mania Project – Phase 1 now consists
of 15 teachers; 1 kindergarten, 9 first grade, and 5 second grade.
